Flying Biscuit Cafe

Fly into my mouth

Charlotte is awesome. I don’t live there but… it’s close enough for comfort. Today comfort came in the form of a light, fluffy biscuit with cranberry apple butter served along side one of the best salads I have ever consumed–the Tofu and Tater salad, of course.

All of this joy came courtesy of The Flying Biscuit Cafe. Eat here. It will love you.

Flying Biscuit

The restaurant is a delightfully whimsical little place with funky artwork and flying biscuits everywhere.

Stew's in the way, but doesn't he look cool?

We started with fried green tomatoes.

Fried green tomatoes

They were great but they were quickly overshadowed by the glory of this:

Tofu and Tater salad

I know it kind of looks like a plate of cat food, but it was amazing. And if cat food is this good, sign me up. It’s tamari tofu with rosemary roasted potatoes topped with feta and served over greens and it is perfect. Stew says I’ll never order anything else here ever again. He might be right.

MEGGxican wrap

Stew got the MEGGxican wrap (yeah, sometimes he doesn’t avoid gluten) and was quite pleased as well.

The highlight was, of course, the biscuit that flew into my mouth at the end of the meal. Our waitress offered earlier on in the meal to bring a to-go box for a biscuits because apparently most people don’t have room for them. Too late. We already inhaled ours. And I’d do it again… and again… and again.

  1. I liked the biscuits a lot, and we had a black bean patty appetizer that was AMAZING… but the actual meals Jodi and I had made us sick :( although, I ate turkey hash and she had fried chicken… we’re thinking maybe this place should be a veg-only restaurant.

  2. I really want to go there! I think they’re putting one in the Epicentre, which is near me. I did try their fried green tomatoes at Taste of Charlotte and I thought they were really yummy. :)

And you’re so right – your salad does look like cat food. haha.

  3. [...] Last time we were here, Stew predicted that I would never order anything other than the thing I ordered that time because I loved it so much. What that thing was exactly was hotly debated. Stew said I got a tofu salad. I know I got the tofu and tater salad. It is rare that I’m actually right in instances such as this, even when debating facts about my own life. I have so much to keep up with these days, most stuff doesn’t stay in my head longer than about 5 minutes, if at all. So I almost believed him when he pulled up a fake picture of a tofu scramble and said it was from my old blog post about the meal. Nice try. I may not be able to remember what day it is, but I know my food. [...]
